Inspirational Indiyogi: Stacie Gebroe

Inspirational Indiyogi in the Spotlight:
Stacie Gebroe
Meet the funniest, quirkiest, most awesome Indiyogi we know… Stacie Gebroe! Lisa and Stephanie joke that we should start a book called "Conversations with Stacie" because every time Stacie comes in to class, she seems to lead us into very interesting, thought-provoking, usually hilarious, and sometimes bizarre conversations. Stacie started her yoga practice with private sessions with Stephanie before adding group classes to the mix, and Stephanie found that eventually she would stop planning out the theme or focus for her private sessions with Stacie ahead of time because it seemed that whatever their conversation before class was, ended up being the perfect intention and perfect theme… and of course it was almost always relevant in Stacie's life at the time, so it made perfect sense and always set us up for a fun session!
Stacie started practicing yoga 1 year ago as her 40th birthday was approaching because she knew she "needed a change." She wanted to start to move her body in a gentle way and the next thing she knew, Indigo Yoga opened up right down the street from her house. "Yoga has given me a chance to feel calm and be strong. Doing yoga has shown me how to truly live in the moment. To just breathe." During Stacie's yoga practice she focuses on being balanced. "I try not to let my mind wander too much and when I do, I try to breath and show myself kindness." This is something that we find especially inspiring about Stacie… she takes her classes one step at a time and has learned to show herself patience and kindness. It's a challenge for a lot of people to be able to laugh and be kind to themselves after falling out of a brand new pose… but Stacie stays lighthearted and let's herself have fun in yoga! Stacie takes this same positive attitude off the mat with her. She says that yoga has made her a more patient person. "I can take deep breathes anytime to focus on being calm. I think I'm a better mom because of it. and I definitely don't yell as much!" she says with a laugh. "I bring yoga with me everywhere I go. Yoga is teaching me that everything is ok, to be calm and to be kind."
We asked our inspirational Indiyogi who or what inspires her and she says that all of the people that she loves inspire her. "My husband, Mom and sister are always bringing adventure and love to my heart. My best friend is a constant source of inspiration. Having a 30+ year friendship is pretty special. Most of all, my kids are what inspire me the most. I love watching them grow and experience life. They really make my world a fuller, better place." Besides yoga, Stacies puts her inspiration toward the arts. Stacie is an artist. She paints and embroiders. "I love dancing and going to see live music. A good concert makes my heart sing." She loves to travel, eat great food, and she truly just enjoys life!
If you haven't met Stacie yet, next time you see her at Indigo, make sure to say hello and strike up a conversation... she is full of creative inspiration and I'm sure she will spark something in you like she has for us!!!
